(Sharecast News) - The long-serving chief executive of Hunting is to retire after more than 30 years at the engineer, it was announced on Monday.
Jim Johnson has told the board he plans to retire by mid-2027. The 56-year-old American has worked for Hunting, a global specialist in precision engineering, since 1992, becoming chief operating officer in 2011 and chief executive in 2017.
Johnson said it had been a "huge privilege" to lead the London-listed business, which was founded in 1874.
"I am very proud of how Hunting has navigated a period of almost unprecedented change to emerge as one of the leading businesses in our sector," he said.
Chair Stuart Brightman added: "Jim's long tenure at Hunting is testament to the strong culture of the organisation.
"Having successfully led the repositioning of the group since 2020, particularly in relation to our subsea and offshore businesses, Jim will leave the company in a strong position to capitalise on future energy and power demand."
Hunting confirmed that the nomination committee had already begun the search for his successor, with both internal and external candidates expected to be considered. Further updates on the process would be provided in due course, it noted.
As at 1130 BST, the FTSE 250 stock was off nearly 2% at 458.44p.
As well as its London headquarters, Hunting maintains a corporate office in Houston, Texas, with operations across Asia, the Middle East and US.
